Check the VANOS adjuster of cylinder bank 2

Check 

• Check the lock of intake and exhaust camshaft adjusters.
• Position open-end spanner (1) on the hexagon head of the camshaft (2).
• Move open-end spanner slightly back and forward in direction of arrow.
• The camshafts must have a frictional connection to the VANOS adjusters (2).

Result 

» Camshafts are connected to the VANOS adjusters (2) with frictional connections.

Measure

• Continue the repair with the next step.

Result 

» If no frictional connection exists, replace the affected VANOS adjuster.

Measure

• Replace the affected VANOS adjuster.

Measure

• Check timing again.
