NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the rim
Damage to the rim
- In order to avoid damage such as pressure points/scratches on the wheel centering, it is recommended that the rim is fixed to the tire mounting machine with a 5-hole clamping flange.
- Use the clamping flange according to the manufacturer's specifications (illustration as an example).
- Observe the following identifications of the tires:
Star (1): Identification of tires approved by BMW. Only tires approved by BMW may be installed.
RSC (2): Identification of RSCs
OUTSIDE (3): Identification of the outer side of the tire. The tires must be mounted in such a way that OUTSIDE is always on the outer side of the rim.
- Note that many tires are directional.
The arrow on the tire must point in the "Forward" direction of rotation for each wheel.
- In case of Pirelli tires, note:
2 small production-related holes (arrows) could be visible on the tire tread.
The holes are not a defect. The performance and efficiency of the tires are not impaired in any way due to this.
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
If tires are installed on rims without match point, then under unfavorable conditions it can result in so-called radial force variations while driving, which are perceived as vibrations at high speeds.
Radial force variations cannot be eliminated by balancing the complete wheel.
If match points are lacking, the vibration effects can be minimized using suitable tire installation and/or wheel balancing machines.

- If present, position the white dot (1) on the rim in relation to the white dot (2) on the tire.
