Removing the gas pressure spring for engine compartment lid

CAUTION: Shutting bonnet or tailgate.
Danger of injury!

Support bonnet/tailgate in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Preliminary works

Observe the disassembly sequence:
1. Push on the clamp in the direction of the groove with the screwdriver.
2. Lift off the ball socket from the ball pin.
3. Push back the clamp.
4. Pull off the ball socket from the ball pin.
Remove gas pressure spring for bonnet (1).
