Removing the steering wheel (M Sport steering wheel)

WARNING: Pyrotechnic components.
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!

All work on pyrotechnic parts may be carried out by technically experienced and appropriately trained personnel only.
Replace any damaged part or ones that have been dropped.

Preliminary work

DEACTIVATE the 48 v electrical system.
Disconnect all battery GROUND LEADS .
Remove the M sports steering wheel AIRBAG UNIT .
If installed: remove automatic transmission SHIFT PADDLE .
Remove the M leather sports steering wheel DECORATIVE TRIM (SA710).
Remove the WIRING HARNESS (M sport steering wheel).
If installed: remove the VIBRATION ACTUATOR (M sport steering wheel).
Remove steering wheel COVER .

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Wheel alignment is not necessary after removal, installation or replacement.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Steering wheel must be replaced if airbag unit has been deployed.
Only on M Sport steering wheel: The impact plate must be replaced if the airbag unit has been deployed.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When releasing the screw, have a support person brace the steering wheel in order to reduce torque on the steering column!

Shift the steering wheel and wheels to the STRAIGHT-AHEAD POSITION .
Loosen screw (1).
Pull down the steering wheel and remove.
