Removing the central mount of the prop shaft
Preliminary work
- Remove rear UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Remove the UNDERBODY PLANKING of the transmission on the side
- Remove the CONNECTING SUPPORT from the tunnel.
- If installed: remove the right and left TORSION STRUT where required.
- Remove the HEAT SHIELDS .
- Remove the RETAINING PLATES
- Completely remove the PROP SHAFT (plug-in - rear flexible disc).
Remove the bellows of the central mount
- Detach the bellows (1) from the groove (2).
- Identify the installation position of the prop shaft (3) and the rear prop shaft (4) in a plane.
The identification makes it possible for the front and rear prop shaft to be installed in the same position. This ensures that the prop shaft is balanced again in the section after installation.
- Pull the prop shaft apart in the direction of the arrow.
- Release the bellows (1) out of the groove (2) using a screwdriver and detach via the longitudinal splines.
- Install the special tool 0 490 482 (00 7 500)
between the central mount (1) and the prop shaft (2).
- Use the hydraulic press to press the central mount (1) off of the prop shaft (2).
