When replacing the exhaust turbocharger: Dismount the oil coolant lines

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Contaminant or foreign body.
Contamination can result in malfunctions, loss of function or leaks.

Adhere to the utmost cleanliness.
Protect components from contamination e.g. by covering.
Close off line connections with seal plugs.

Loosen screw (1).
Feed out and remove the coolant return line (2) for the exhaust turbocharger.
Feed out and remove the oil feed line (3) for the exhaust turbocharger.

Twist the coolant feed line (1) for the exhaust turbocharger (2) in the direction of the arrow .

Pull out and remove coolant-feed line (1) for the exhaust gas turbocharger (2).

Using the special tool 0 496 714 (00 9 030) , replace the sealing rings (1) on the coolant feed line (2).

Check sealing rings (2) on coolant return line (3) for damage and, if necessary, replace coolant return line (3).

Initial filling with the additive when replacing the exhaust turbocharger
NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
Dry running due to insufficient initial filling of the exhaust turbocharger.
Damage to the exhaust turbocharger.
- Be sure to do the initial filling when replacing the exhaust turbocharger.
- Fill the exhaust turbocharger with the matching additive (see applicable BMW parts catalogue).

Fill exhaust turbocharger additive (1) into the bore (2) of the oil feed line.

Feed in and install the oil feed line (3) for the exhaust turbocharger.
Insert and install the coolant return line (2) for the exhaust turbocharger.
Tighten down screw (1).

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Coolant return line/oil feed line to exhaust turbocharger
M6 x 12	tightening torque	8 Nm
