Checking the internal engine pressure
Preliminary work
- Refer to CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE OIL FILLER CAP .
NOTE:
Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.
- Have the special tool 2 471 014 ready.
- Insert the special tool 2 471 014 into the opening of the oil filler neck and screw it in hand-tight.
- Connect connection hose (1) to the special tool.

TECHNICAL DATA - DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SPECIFICATION
| Differential pressure between ambient pressure and engine internal pressure | |
|---|---|
| Nominal value 0+30-15 mbar | |
Result
« There is a deviation between the measured value and the ambient pressure.
Measure
- Determine possible causes by means of the table and eliminate them.
| Deviation | Possible cause | Measures | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Result 1 | Measured value < ambient pressure 0.95 bar | Pressure control valve faulty | Replace the pressure control valve |
| Result 2 | Measured value > ambient pressure 0.95 bar | Crankcase ventilation system blocked | Clean the crankcase ventilation system |
Follow-up work
- Refer to INSTALLING THE OIL FILLER CAP
