Clean sealing surfaces

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the surface.
The use of metal-cutting tools (e.g., emery cloths) for cleaning surfaces can damage them and lead to leaks and/or engine damage.

Do not use any metal-cutting tools.

Remove coarse backlogs from the sealing surfaces of the cylinder head and the crankcase using special tool 0495103 (11 4 471).

Remove fine backlogs from the sealing surfaces of the cylinder head and the crankcase using special tool 0 495104 (11 4 472).
Clean all blind holes of the cylinder head and the engine block.
Remove special tool (B) from special tool 2 364 711.
