Cleaning the crack surfaces
Prerequisite
- Removing and installing all pistons 11 25 530
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE CONNECTING ROD BOLTS AND CONNECTING ROD BEARING CAPS .
- Refer to REMOVING THE PISTONS AT THE CYLINDERS 1 TO 4 WITH THE SPECIAL TOOL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE PISTON AT CYLINDERS 5 TO 8 USING SPECIAL TOOL .
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Maintain conditions of absolute cleanliness.
Maintain conditions of absolute cleanliness.
- Do not use compressed air to fuse off cracked areas.
- Draw new connecting rods off prior to the installation.
- Draw off all crack surfaces (1) using a commercially available vacuum cleaner (2).
