MISSING DISPLAY OF SURROUND VIEW CAMERA

SERVICE INFORMATION
With SA 5DN (parking assistance system plus) or SA 5DL (Surround View)
Produced from 7/12/17 through 9/1/17
SITUATION
Central Information Display (CID) sporadically does not display Surround View Camera image.
The following fault memory entries are stored in the Surround View camera (ICAM2) control unit:
- 0x800ba5 Rear view camera: Internal camera fault
- 0x800b90 Rear view camera: max. permissible current exceeded
CAUSE
Software for the ICAM2 control unit.
CORRECTION
Reprogram the vehicle with ISTA 4.08.2x or a more recent version.
PROCEDURE
For conditions that are similar to the situation described:
- Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA.
- Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.08.2x (expected availability- 11/8/2017) or more recent version.

Note that ISTA 4 will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply ( SI B04 23 10 ).

PARTS INFORMATION
Parts replacement will not provide a solution to this situation.

Vehicle Programming and Coding
ISTA automatically reprograms and codes all vehicle control modules that do not have the latest software. If one or more control module failures occur "during" this programming procedure:
- Please claim this "consequential" control module-related repair work under the defect code listed in this bulletin with the applicable KSD2/AIR labor operations.

Control module failures that occurred "prior" to performing this programming procedure:
- When "covered" under an applicable limited warranty, claim this control module-related repair work using the applicable defect code and labor operations in KSD2/AIR.
