SITUATION
The buttons on the remote-control key, BMW display key and spare key are not functioning, prohibiting unlocking the doors, tailgate, or trunk compartment.
CAUSE
Communication error between the Body Domain Controller (BDC) and the remote-control key.
PROCEDURE
- Verify that this is a first-time concern for the vehicle. If this situation has already been reported, see below.
- Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA, working through test module, if needed.
- Perform "Control unit reset BDC" via the ISTA control unit tree. Alternatively, a battery reset may also be carried out by disconnecting the battery.
- Allow the vehicle to enter sleep mode.
- Verify the effectiveness of the repair by testing the remote control buttons' operation.

Refer to AIR for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.
Work time labor operation code 61 00 006 is not considered a Main labor operation.
