Parts Information

SITUATION

Below freezing ambient temperatures:

One or more doors (front or rear) may not open when attempting to enter, or-
After opening, they may not correctly latch

CAUSE

A leaking seal on the outer Bowden release cable may allow water to enter the cable sheathing and freeze.

CORRECTION

Inspect and replace the outer door handle Bowden cable if necessary.

PROCEDURE

For conditions similar to those described above:

Remove the outer Bowden cable on the affected door as per ISTA/AIR repair instructions.
Visually inspect the Bowden release cable for the outer door handle of the affected door(s).
- Pull back the rubber seal (shown) to thoroughly inspect the cable sheathing for signs of corrosion or water droplets
Are water droplets or corrosion present on the cable?
Yes: Replace the affected Bowden cable, following ISTA/AIR repair instructions for the affected door.

No: Continue troubleshooting. This SIB does not apply.
