CORRECTION

Update the vehicle software using ISTA Next 4.09.1x or higher.

If the vehicle integration level is on a higher software level, perform diagnostics with ISTA Next.

PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

  1. Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA.
  2. Program the vehicle using ISTA Next 4.09.1x or higher to appropriate level shown below:

    G12 S15A-17-11-540

If the vehicle is above the target integration level, continue diagnosis with ISTA.

The DME/DDE may not be replaced for this fault below the target integration level.

Note that ISTA Next will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply ( SI B04 23 10  ).

For information on programming and coding with ISTA, refer to CenterNet/TIS/Technical Documentation/Programming and Diagnostics/Programming Documentation.
