Rattle Noise Caused By Hood Release Cables (SI B51 04 18)

RATTLE NOISE CAUSED BY HOOD RELEASE CABLES

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

There is a rattle noise perceived from the instrument panel or engine compartment areas, particularly over uneven roadways. This noise is heard from inside of the vehicle while driving.

CAUSE

The hood release cables are rattling against the engine compartment trim in the area shown below:

CORRECTION

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

If the cable has been identified as the cause of the noise, secure the cable by installing spacer PN 61 13 1 379 882  .

PROCEDURE

Install spacer (PN 61 13 1 379 882)  as shown in the photos below.
