LOW-SPEED BRAKE SQUEAL

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

Vehicle brakes produce a squealing noise when applied at low speed.

CAUSE

Guide pin on the rear brake caliper bracket.

CORRECTION

Replace rear brake caliper carriers with new part number, as well as discs and pads.

PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

Identify, by external observation, where the noise is coming from.
Is the sound coming from the rear brakes?

YES - go to next step.

NO - continue diagnosis with ISTA NED.
Replace the rear brake caliper carriers with updated part number specified below.
Replace pads and discs on the rear axle of the vehicle.

NOTE: Brake replacement requires new pads and discs on both sides of the vehicle.

NOTE: Correct brake pad greasing is important for proper operation and brake squeal elimination. Failure to properly grease pads (as described in attached brake repair guide) may result in return visit for squealing brakes.
