BMW - NEW ON-LINE MPU AND ESC CANCELLATION PROCESS

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW NA) offers for sale for a specific eligible vehicle:

• BMW Extended Service Contracts (ESC); and
• BMW Maintenance Program Upgrades (MPU).

When purchased, an ESC program extends the coverage for specified vehicle systems/components beyond the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks (4 years/50,000 miles).

Likewise, a purchased MPU will either enhance and/or extend the vehicle's standard BMW Maintenance Program coverage.

As will all products like this, most states have statutes which define the qualifications and details BMW NA's responsibility for cancelling and refunding the customer (either fully or partially) for these purchased contracts.

With the recent launch of the new VCS 2.0, this provided an opportunity to create a program cancellation interface within the contract system. Now all cancellations requests can be processed at your center through the system.

Based on the supporting documentation inputted and, the system will calculate the corresponding cancellation based on state laws and information.

Beginning September 8, 2020, you will no longer need to send a cancellation request for a specific vehicle (VIN) to Assurant for an ESC contract and/or the MPU Cancellations mailbox for an MPU contract.

CAUSE

Cancelling and refunding customers for purchased contracts.

CORRECTION

VCS 2.0 will now calculate automatically the corresponding cancellation based on state laws and information.

PROCEDURE

See refer to the attachment for the information and the steps for processing a cancellation request though the system.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

Once cancelled, the ESC and/or MPU contract will no longer be active  to allow for claim submission(s) under the cancelled program(s), please ensure the VIN information provided is correct.
