TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION
Technical Service is pleased to announce a new feature to TIS: The Noise Catalog.
The Noise Catalog was designed to help with the diagnosis of noises and vibrations that can appear in the vehicle. The Noise Catalog provides videos/audio files of common noises and vibrations followed by a description of the most likely root cause and/or most effective repair procedures.
To help build and grow this library with information that will help everyone, we ask that you submit your cases to us for review. The videos/audio files for the Noise Catalog can be submitted via a TSARA info only case by following the steps listed below:
- Record a video with your mobile device where it is possible to hear the noise/vibration.
- Identify the root cause and:
- Take a picture of the defective component where it is possible to see the part number (if the issue is solved by replacing a component)
- Take note of the performed repair
- Record a video of the repaired car with your mobile device.
- Submit a TSARA info case with:
- Video before the repair
- Picture of the replaced component where it is possible to see the part number (if applicable)
- Short description of the performed repair
- Video after the repair
In the title of the TSARA case the key words NOISE CATALOG must be present.
Rewards will be given out to the "best" submitted cases that fulfill following criteria:
- The issue associated with the case has not yet been documented in the Noise Catalog
- The quality of the videos attached to the case and the quality/correctness of the proposed repair is approved by BMW NA Technical Service
The Noise Catalog is available from the Main Menu in TIS. You will see an expansive search tool at the top of the page to help you narrow down your results. Below the search box will be the available files to view.
Disclaimer: The Noise Catalog is intended as support for the diagnosis and does not replace the test plans (if available) and the normal technical support process. Following the videos of the Noise Catalog alone does not qualify for warranty approval.
