VARIOUS CHECK CONTROL MESSAGES FOR DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

The following messages are displayed in the Check Control (CC) display:

• Continued driving possible. Driving stabilization. Driving stabilization restricted driving stabilization. Drive with caution to the nearest authorized BMW Service workshop.

  and/or:

• Collision warning/you can continue driving. Collision warning fully or partially failed. No warning is given if the distance from the vehicle in front is too short. Drive to your authorized BMW Service workshop when the opportunity arises.

  and/or

• Pedestrian warning./Pedestrian warning fully or partially failed. No brake intervention in case of an acute pedestrian warning. Have it checked by your service partner.

The following fault codes are stored in the DSC control unit:

Fault code	Text
03058E	Engine control unit operating fluid - acceleration sensors adaptive data sensor tolerance at maximum value
030557	Engine control unit operating fluid - steering angle driver adaptive data for steering angle tolerance at maximum value

The fault memory cannot be deleted.

CAUSE

Unfavorable software in the DSC.

CORRECTION

Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.14.1x or higher (available since November 2018).

PROCEDURE

1. Read out the vehicle I-Level.
   • Is the I-Level is lower than S15A-18-11-510?

Yes:  Program and code the vehicle using ISTA 4.14.1x or higher to the appropriate I-Level below

No:  Do not program the vehicle. Perform diagnosis with ISTA using the applicable test plans. 

Note that ISTA will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply ( SI B04 23 10  )  .

Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks or the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Program.

If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead of 00 00 006.

Refer to AIR for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.

During the same workshop visit, if a vehicle also requires another Technical Campaign or repair that also includes programming and encoding the control units, the programming procedure may only be invoiced one time.
