CC MESSAGE: TIRE CHANGE DETECTED

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

CC Message (CCM): "Tire change detected" displayed on Central Information Display (CID).

CAUSE

Programming of the vehicle with ISTA 4.04.1x or higher causes it to lose tire pressure data.

CORRECTION

Reinitialize the Tire Pressure Monitor system as per instructions.

PROCEDURE

Follow initialization procedure detailed in the Operator's Manual (copy below).

"When initializing, the set tire inflation pressures serve as reference values in order to detect a flat tire. Initialization is started by confirming the tire inflation pressures. Do not initialize the system when driving with snow chains.

Using iDrive:

1. "My Vehicle"
2. "Vehicle status"
3. "Flat Tire Monitor"
4. Switch on drive-ready state and do not drive off.
5. Start the initialization with: "Perform reset"
6. Drive away.

The initialization is completed while driving, which can be interrupted at any time.

The initialization automatically continues when driving resumes.

PARTS INFORMATION

Parts replacement will not provide a solution to this situation.

Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks.

Claim with the defect code that applies to the covered repair with the programming and coding procedure that necessitated this additional work procedure to be performed

For the second situation, if you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 36 11 503 instead.
