CCM: "ENGINE OIL PRESSURE" ON LOW MILEAGE CARS

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

Check Control Message (CCM-212) states: "Engine Oil Pressure. Stop Carefully"

The following codes may be stored in the DME fault memory"

• 1C2002 - Engine oil pump, pressure too low
• 1FB801 - CCM (ID212) - Oil pressure

Also, the vehicle's mileage is very low (below 60 miles), the fault frequency shows only "one" occurrence; faults are not currently present and cannot be reproduced.

CAUSE

Unfavorable DME software application

PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

1. Run diagnosis with ISTA/D and check DME fault memory.

   Are any of the fault codes, specified above, stored in the DME fault memory have a frequency 1, and are not reproducible/currently not present? 

   YES  - clear the fault memory, no more actions are needed. A parts exchange is not necessary and does not provide a solution.

   NO  - continue troubleshooting with ISTA.

   NOTE: As of integration level 17-03-500 (released 03/2017), a changed DME application software is going to prevent an erroneous oil pressure warning on low mileage vehicles.

   Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply ( SI B04 23 10  ).
