Installing the universal joint
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The universal joint can be mounted only in one position.
The universal joint and the steering gear or the steering shaft at the bottom are encoded to one another.
The clamping bolt must be positioned in the groove of the steering gear or the steering shaft.

- Clean the screw threads to remove all residues of screw locking agent.
- Slide the universal joint through the front axle support onto the steering gear from the back.
- Replace the screw (1).

- Tighten down screw (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Universal joint to steering box M8
Recut screw thread.
Replace clamping bolt.
No retorque permitted!Tightening torque 28 Nm - Clean the screw threads to remove all remnants of screw lock agent.
- Push the universal joint (2) onto the steering shaft.
- Replace the screw (1).

- Tighten down screw (1).

Follow-up work
- Install the THRUST FIELD .
- Install the UNDERBODY PROTECTION of the steering gear or the front thrust field.
- Check the steering wheel STRAIGHT-AHEAD DRIVING POSITION .
- CHECK the airbag for function.
