Installing the retaining pin for linkage of air flap control above

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
In order to guarantee the quality of the Driver Assistance functions in vehicles with concealed radar sensors, the component may be repainted only in compliance with the repair specifications described in the REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS "Standards for refinishing paint with a sensor system".
No stickers or films (transparent or colored) may be affixed in the transmission areas of the radar sensors.
If there are no radar sensors fitted, the component may be painted.
The following features can be used to identify whether radar sensors are installed on the vehicle:
Radar sensors are installed at the rear if the triangular warning light is present on the exterior mirror (in the mirror glass or on the mirror frame).
Radar sensors are installed at the front and rear if the triangular warning light is present on the exterior mirror (in the mirror glass or on the mirror frame) in conjunction with optional equipment S5ATA or S5AUA.

Preliminary work
- Remove the left and right top engine compartment COVER .
- Remove front ORNAMENTAL GRILLE .
- Partially remove the front section of the front wheel arch COVER
- Remove front BUMPER COVER .
- Remove top automatic air FLAP CONTROL .
- Open the air flaps to the left and right before installing the retaining pin (1).
- Note the installation position of the retaining pin (1).
- Install the retaining pin (1) and let it engage audibly.
Follow-up work
- Insert top automatic air FLAP CONTROL .
- Install front BUMPER COVER .
- Install (partially removed) front section of the front wheel arch COVER
- Install front ORNAMENTAL GRILLE .
- Install the left and right top engine compartment COVER
