SERVICE INFORMATION
This Service Information Bulletin (Revision 1) replaces SI B34 04 20 dated May 2020 .
What's New (Specific text highlighted):
- Correction
SITUATION
On certain newer BMW vehicles (e.g., G12 M760i, G14, G15), the technician cannot perform brake rotor resurfacing using the ProCut PFM9.2 or X9 brake lathe. The lathe gearbox housing contacts the large-diameter rotor (aka brake disc), preventing proper setup.
CAUSE
New models introduced with brake rotors larger than 374 mm (approx. 14.75") require new equipment for service.
CORRECTION
Upgraded gearbox kit installed by ProCut.
The gearbox upgrade kit is required to be installed and available for use in your workshop by January 1, 2021
On and after January 1, 2021 , all BMW centers are required to follow all corresponding service information bulletins that relate to this topic.
Any rotor replacements submitted for reimbursement through a claim submission to BMW will be requested to be returned for review by the Warranty Parts Return Center (WPRC) and subject to debit if they are found to be suitable for machining.
PROCEDURE
Contact your local ProCut representative, requesting they perform Tech Bulletin TB3, BMW Large rotor upgrade package. Refer to the attached ProCut Tech Bulletin TB3.
PARTS INFORMATION
For efficient and quality rotor resurfacing, additional lathe hardware upgrades are recommended, as per attached ProCut Tech Bulletin TB3.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
ProCut Brake Lathe Equipment upgrades, and maintenance are not covered under Warranty. The price list for various levels of upgrade can be found in the attached "BMW package - Order Form".
It is highly recommended and advised that BMW centers will take advantage of this introductory upgrade offer, to keep the already purchased equipment up to date and relevant for new BMW products. Also, the gearbox update will be necessary for soon-to-be released resurfacing procedure for cross-drilled rotors on M-Sport vehicles.
