SERVICE INFORMATION
With option code SA 322 (Comfort Access)
SITUATION
In certain situations the customer requests to have Comfort Access (CA) deactivated in their vehicle. This service information bulletin outlines how to perform this procedure and what functions in the vehicle will be deactivated.
Before performing this procedure be sure that the customer is aware that the following features in the vehicle will no longer work once Comfort Access is deactivated:
- Touching the outside door handle (TAGE) no longer locks/unlocks the vehicle. The customer has to use the buttons on the remote control key.
- The Smart Opener (Contactless Tailgate Opener) will no longer work. The customer has to open the trunk/tailgate with the remote control key or inside switch.
- Remote control key detection inside the vehicle interior (preventing the remote control key from being locked inside the vehicle) may be does not work (Some models). This may lead to locking the remote control key inside the vehicle.
- The outside tailgate button does not work when the vehicle is locked (comfort operation of tailgate can only be activated with the remote control key).
CORRECTION
Deactivate CA via ISTA/P or ISTA 4 after fully explaining the functions that will no longer work to the customer.
PROCEDURE
Procedure for deactivating comfort access with ISTA/P (E Series vehicles only):
- Connect the vehicle via ISTA/P; start New Session.
- Select the "Vehicle" menu.
- Select the "Conversions" tab.
- Select the "Conversions (coding only)" tab.
- Select conversion "Deactivate comfort access"
- Accept the "Measures Plan" and complete the programming session.
- Recheck and confirm that comfort access is deactivated.
Procedure for deactivating comfort access with ISTA (F, G and I Series vehicles):
- Connect the vehicle via ISTA; new session.
- Select "Vehicle management".
- Select "Vehicle modification".
- Select "Conversion/Coding only".
- Select "Deactivate comfort access"
- Accept the "Measures Plan" and complete the programming session.
- Recheck and confirm that comfort access is deactivated.
Deactivating Comfort Access successfully; the vehicle order will be modified with K-Word (DCAF).
