SITUATION
The following fault is erroneously store in the Digital Motor Electronics (DME).
- FC 10501D - DME: internal fault, processor monitoring MOXEMM_FCCU32
This fault does not cause any drivability complaints or engine warning lamps. This fault is normally detected during unrelated work.
CAUSE
Error in the DME software.
CORRECTION
Update the vehicle software using ISTA Next 4.09.1x or higher.
If the vehicle integration level is on a higher software level, perform diagnostics with ISTA Next.
PROCEDURE
For conditions that are similar to the situation described:
- Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA.
- Program the vehicle using ISTA Next 4.09.1x or higher to appropriate level shown below:
Model Target Integration Level F22 F020-17-11-540 F23 F30 F31 F32 F33 F34 G12 S15A-17-11-540
If the vehicle is above the target integration level, continue diagnosis with ISTA.
The DME/DDE may not be replaced for this fault below the target integration level.
Note that ISTA Next will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply ( SI B04 23 10 ).
For information on programming and coding with ISTA, refer to CenterNet/TIS/Technical Documentation/Programming and Diagnostics/Programming Documentation.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks or the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Program.
This repair is also covered by the terms of the Federal and the State-specific Emissions Warranty (dependent on the vehicle's model year and state of registration).

Vehicle Programming and Encoding
ISTA automatically reprograms and codes all the vehicle control modules that do not have the latest software i-level. If one or more control module failures occur "during" this programming procedure:
- Please claim this "consequential" control module-related repair work under the defect code listed in this bulletin with the applicable KSD2/AIR labor operations
Control module failures that occurred "prior" to performing this programming procedur
- When "covered" under an applicable limited warranty, claim this control module-related repair work using the applicable defect code and labor operations in KSD2/AIR.
