What's New:
- This is a NEW bulletin
Vehicles equipped without option 6WB Multifunction instrument display, G30 vehicles must also be equipped with one of the following:
- 5AT Driving Assistant Plus
- 5DF Active cruise control with Stop & Go function (ACC)
- 601 TV function
- 609 Navigation system Professional
- 610 BMW Head-Up Display
- 6FS TV function analogue
- Plug-in Hybrid
Instrument Cluster (KOMBI) produced between 1/18/17 and 4/5/17.
- Control Unit production date can be located in ISTA via the menu item "Call up control unit functions" located in the "Identification" tab.
SITUATION
When programming the vehicle with ISTA/P the instrument cluster fails to program.
CAUSE
Missing ISTA/P software.
CORRECTION
Until the release of ISTA/P V3.62.0 (17-07-502) or ISTA4 4.06.1 you will need to program the KOMBI via IRAP
PROCEDURE
- If experiencing difficulty programming the instrument cluster, perform a diagnosis using ISTA 4 and follow the corresponding test module(s).
- Program the vehicle with ISTA/P 3.61.2.002 or ISTA 4.04.32 or higher
- Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
- Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10 ).
- For information on programming and coding with ISTA/P, refer to CenterNet/TIS/Technical Documentation/Diagnostics and Programming/Programming Documentation.
- After completion of the software update, submit a PuMA case titled "G30 Kombi IRAP"
- Connect to the IRAP Next client immediately upon submitting the PuMA case
- The IRAP specialist will respond when completed
- (SI B09 02 16 ) includes further information on IRAP Next usage and functionality
- After the IRAP session, program the KOMBI with ISTA/P or ISTA 4 and check the functionality of the instrument cluster
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Claimable with a repair that is covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks or the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Program.

Work time labor operation code 61 00 006 is not considered a Main labor operation; however, it does require an individual punch time and an explanation on the repair order and in the claim comments.
Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.
