ADAPTIVE LIGHT SYSTEMS FAILURE CCM IS DISPLAYED

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

CCM (Check Control Message) with Adaptive Light Systems Defect appears on Control Display. During the vehicle test one or more fault codes are stored in the left or right FLM01 (Front Light Module).

Fault codes in the FLM01_L module:

805CCA - Servo Motor Cornering Light: Short Circuit or Open circuit on line 1
805CD3 - Servo Motor Headlight Adjustment Control: Short Circuit or Open circuit on line 1

And/Or

Fault codes in the FLM01_R module:

805E4A - Servo Motor Cornering Light: Short Circuit or Open circuit on Cable Wrap 1
805E53 - Servo Motor Headlight Adjustment Control: Short Circuit or Open circuit on Cable Wrap 1

CAUSE

The lock mechanism from the headlight harness connector is not aligned correctly which can damage the control unit for front light electronics/LED highlights and/or the headlight.

CORRECTION

Inspect front light electronics connector and replace headlight and/or control unit, if necessary.

PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

Perform a vehicle test, one or more above fault codes listed. Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10 ).
Remove affected headlight as per repair instruction REP 63 12 003 "Removing and installing left or right headlight".
Remove FLM01 from the headlight.
Inspect the control unit connector for a tight fit.
Is the connector tightly fit to the control unit?

YES - continue standard fault diagnosis

NO - Go to step 4.
1. 4. Remove the connector and inspect for damage - broken latch clip, scorched contacts
  Is the connector damaged?
  
  YES - replace the headlight assembly and the control unit refer to which connector is damaged area.
  
  NO - reconnect the circuit verifying latch mechanism is functional.
Reinstall any removed parts to complete the repair.

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.

Work time labor operation code 63 99 000 is not considered a Main labor operation. Also, since the "work time" FRU allowance to be claimed is specified, a separate punch time is not required.

Vehicle Programming and Coding

When ISTA/P automatically reprograms and codes all the vehicle's control modules that "currently do not have" the latest software and if one or more control module failures occur "during" this programming procedure:

Please claim this "consequential" control module-related repair work under the defect code listed in this bulletin with the applicable KSD2/AIR labor operations.
