SITUATION

DEACTIVATION OF THE AUTOMATIC AIR RECIRULATION 

Customer request for deactivation of the automatic air recirculation function.

The customer complains that fresh air enters the vehicle interior although the air recirculation function is activated.

CAUSE

This is not a fault! 

Permanent activation of the air circulation function would result in deterioration of the air quality in the vehicle interior.

Condensation on the windows would increase, which would result in automatic deactivation of the air recirculation function after a certain time as appropriate to ambient conditions.

CORRECTION

Only if requested by the vehicle's owner/operator after they are explained the reason for this functionality, perform the Conversion:

• "Deactivation of the automatic air recirculation control"

PROCEDURE

1. Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA, working through test module, if needed.
2. Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.15.1X or higher.

Note that ISTA will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply ( SI B04 23 10  ).
