COMFORT ACCESS SPORADICALLY INOPERATIVE

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

Sporadically, vehicle is unable to be locked or unlocked via the door handle.

CAUSE

Radio remote control ID transmitter is not being detected.

CORRECTION

Diagnose with ISTA 4 and, if radio range is determined to be inadequate, replace transmitter.

PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

1. Perform diagnosis with ISTA 4 working through corresponding test module.

   Did ISTA 4 find errors in the operation of the radio transmitter? 

   YES -  follow ISTA recommendations.

   NO -  go to next step.

2. Conduct a range detection test on all radio remote controls assigned to the vehicle. Start at a minimum of 20m (65 feet) and repeat at decreasing 1m (3 feet) intervals for each remote.

   Were any of the radio remote controls undetectable at a distance of less than 15m (50 feet)? 

   YES-  the undetectable radio remote control must be replaced.

   NO -  continue diagnosis with ISTA.
