SERVICE INFORMATION
With option SA0609 - Navigation Professional (Head Unit High 2/NBT Evo)

SITUATION
- Navigation system will not start at all or the: "Navigation system starts" message is permanently displayed; or
- While attempting to update the Navigation system's map, it will not update.
CAUSE
Subfolder on internal Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is missing.
CORRECTION
Update maps via ISTA or with USB memory device.
Reprogram vehicle with ISTA 4.08.1X, if necessary
PROCEDURE
For conditions that are similar to the situation described:
- Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA.
Are there any significant, related fault codes?
YES- continue diagnosis with ISTA.
NO - go to next step.
- Attempt to update the map via ISTA or by USB memory.
Was map update successful?
YES- repair is complete.
NO - Go to next step.
- Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.08.1X or higher.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply ( SI B04 23 10 ).

- Please claim this consequential control module-related repair work under the defect code listed in this bulletin with the applicable KSD2/AIR labor operations
