SITUATION

BMW emblem on tailgate wobbles and makes crackling noise when touched.

CAUSE

Incorrect initial installation.

CORRECTION

Replace with new emblem.

PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

Remove emblem from vehicle as per repair instructions 51 14 010 "Removing and installing/replacing rear BMW Badge".
Remove adhesive residues from the car surface and clean bonding surface with cleaner.
Install new grommets.
Sparingly, lubricate the guide pins on the new BMW emblem with lubricant G14.
Remove the protective film from the adhesive strip on the new emblem.
Press the emblem into the guide pins and the adhesive strip.
