INFORMATION

As part of our normal day-to-day business activities, many vehicle owners have an expectation that substitute transportation will be provided to them when their vehicles are in your workshop for repair.

This is especially true when a required workshop repair visit is the result of a Recall and/or Service Action.

To assist you in meeting this expectation, the BMW Aftersales Mobility Program (AMP) supports participating centers with providing their customers either loaner vehicles, rental vehicles or shuttle services.

Alternative Mobility Solutions (AMS) 

Independent of AMP, there are several other or "alternative mobility solutions" (AMS) that are also available, such as:

SITUATION

BMW is pleased to announce a new program and procedure that will help your center in assisting those customers who choose to use an alternative mobility solution when a "qualifying" Recall and/or Service Action repair is being performed on their vehicle.

NOTE: Important AMS Reimbursement Program/Procedure cancellation conditions apply as noted at the end of this bulletin.

PROCEDURE

A "qualifying" Recall/Service Action repair contains:

NOTE: Recall/Campaign consequential repair work-related FRUs, when applicable, are separate.

Please do not add these FRUs to the above guideline.

AMS Reimbursement/Subsidy Allowances

In conjunction with performing the "qualifying" Recall and/or Service Action repair on their vehicle, your center can then reimburse or subsidize a customer's expense for using an alternative mobility solution.

The expense allowances are the following:

  1. A maximum of $15.00  for "customer-related" alternative mobility; or
  2. A maximum of $25.00  for "vehicle-related" Pickup/drop off service
NOTE: The allowance above that applies may cover the entire expense or just simply supplement a portion of it.

Identifying Qualifying Recall/Service Action Repairs

To assist you in identifying "Recalls and Service Actions" that qualify, the Service Information bulletin's "Situation" section will contain the following:

  • Sub-section;
  • Program Reference statement; and an
  • Embedded link to this bulletin.

Alternative Mobility Solutions (AMS) Reimbursement 

This BMW Recall/Service Action repair qualifies for Alternative Mobility Solution (AMS) expense reimbursement. Please refer to SI B01 29 16 for claim submission details.

DCSnet Claim Submission - Sublet Line-Item Entry

Under the Recall/Service Action's special Defect Code this is provided in the repair-related Service Information bulletin, claim the:

  • Alternative mobility expense as an additional "Sublet line item" together with the repair-related line-item details (labor/parts/other sublet as applicable). 
  • Submit the AMS expense at cost (no handling/markup). 

In the DCSnet "Repair Order" or "Claim" function, enter and submit for the AMS expense using:

  • Sublet Code "2" as shown below

Up to the maximum allowance that applies:

Reimbursement for an Alternative Mobility Solution expense is claimable "in conjunction" with the performing and submitting a "qualifying" BMW Recall/Service Action repair.

AMS REIMBUREMENT PROGRAM/PROCEDURE CANCELLATION

Based on BMW center participation, Recall completion rate percentages and other elements being regularly reviewed, BMW of North America, LLC ("BMW NA") reserves the right to cancel this program/procedure at any time without prior notice.
