No Steering Assistance After Start (SI B32 06 17)

NO STEERING ASSISTANCE AFTER START

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

Upon starting the vehicle, no power steering assistance is evident.

Upon restarting the vehicle (or power reset), the power steering assistance is re-established.

CAUSE

Electronic Power Steering (EPS) unit software

CORRECTION

Reprogram and code the vehicle with ISTA/P 3.62.2 or ISTA 4.06.35.

PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

1. Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA.
2. Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 3.62.2 or ISTA 4.06.35 or higher.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply  (SI B04 23 10  ).

Parts replacement will not correct this situation.
