WIND NOISE FROM REAR SIDE WINDOW

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SITUATION

At highway speed, wind noise is heard from either rear side window.

CAUSE

Gap between the window guide and the window guide bar.

CORRECTION

Replace the window guide after verification of cause.

PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:

Inspect window guide on affected window at the window guide bar.
Is there a gap similar to that shown in picture above?

YES - go to next step.

NO - continue standard diagnosis.
Place adhesive tape over gap with forward edge of the tape firmly adhered to window guide bar and door frame.
Test drive vehicle.
Was the noise still able to be heard?

YES - continue standard diagnosis.

NO - replace the window guide (refer to ISTA Repair instructions "51 34 211 Replacing rubber seal for rear left or right door window".

51 34 211	Refer to KSD	Replacing rubber guide for left or right rear door window (Main work)
Or:
51 34 711	Refer to KSD	Replacing rubber guide for left or right rear door window (Plus work)

If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 51 34 711 instead.

Or:

Repairing Both Rear Sides

Labor Operation:	Labor Allowance:	Description:
51 34 212	Refer to KSD	Replacing rubber guide on both rear side windows (Main work)
Or:

If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 51 34 711 instead.

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance.

Work time labor operation code 51 00 001 is not considered a Main labor operation. Also, since the "work time" FRU allowance to be claimed is specified, a separate punch time is not required.

When "covered" under an applicable limited warranty, claim this other repair work using the applicable defect code and labor operations in KSD2/AIR.
