Remove A-Pillar Reinforcement

• Mark and carry out the separating cut (1) as per dimension a. Thereby disconnect only the outer panel. Dimension a = 85 mm.

• Open the spot-welded adhesive joints in areas (1) to (3).

• Open welded connections in area (1).
• Detach the outer section of the A-pillar from the cavity sealings (2).

• Mark and carry out the separating cut (1) as per dimension a. Thereby disconnect only the outer panel. Dimension a = 340 mm.
• Release welded connections in areas (2).
• Release the spot-welded adhesive joints in area (3).
• Detach the outer section of the A-pillar from the cavity sealing (4) and remove.

• Remove cavity sealing (1).
• Mark and cut the separating cuts (2).
• Loosen welded connections in areas (3).
• Open spot-welded adhesive joints in areas (4).
• Remove the bulkhead.

• Mark and cut the separating cut (1).
• Release welded connections in areas (2).
• Release the spot-welded adhesive joints in area (3).
• Remove reinforcement (4).

• Mark and carry out the separating cut (1) as per dimension a. Thereby disconnect only the outer panel. Dimension a = 60 mm beneath previous separating cut.

  Pay attention to the water drain hose of the sliding/tilting sunroof.

• Release the welded connection in areas (2).

• Mark and make the separating cuts (1) as shown.

  Pay attention to the water drain hose of the sliding/tilting sunroof.

• Remove the cut panel section (2).

• Release the spot-welded adhesive joint (1).
• Drill a bore with (2) Ø 10 mm for a spot-weld. Drill through all 3 panels.

  Plug-welding occurs from the inside.

• Mark and make separation cuts (1) as shown and remove the sheet metal cutout (2).

  Pay attention to the water drain hose of the sliding/tilting sunroof.

• Detach the spot-welded adhesive joints (3).
• Detach the welded connections (4).

• Open welded connections in area (1).
• Release the spot-welded adhesive joints in area (2).
• Detach the reinforcement of the A-pillar from the cavity sealing (3) and remove.

• Open the welded connections in area (1) and remove the reinforcement (2).
• Remove cavity sealing (3).
