Install the coil springs

Adjust the special tool 0 493 556 (31 3 341) to dimension (A).
Basic version: Dimension (A) = 240 mm

SPORT version: Dimension (A) = 175 mm to 180 mm

BMW M Performance Automobile version: Dimension (A) = 175 mm to 180 mm

Mount the coil spring (1) with special tools 2 318 833 and 0 493 556 (31 3 341) .

Tension the coil spring with the special tool 0 493 556 (31 3 341) to dimension (A).
Basic version: Dimension (A) = 65 mm

SPORT version: Dimension (A) = 25 mm

BMW M Performance Automobile version: Dimension (A) = 25 mm
Ensure that dimension (A) is not exceeded.

Check the spring pad (1) and replace as needed.
Align the spring pad (1) based on the mark to the spring strut support bearing (2).

Check the spring strut, auxiliary damper, protective tube and spring pad (2) and replace as needed.
Guide the spring strut with the auxiliary damper, the protective tube, and spring pad (2) into the tensioned coil spring (1).
Align the coil spring end (1) at the spring pad (2).
The coil spring end (1) must rest against the spring pad (2).

Mount the spring strut support bearing on the piston rod of the spring strut.

Align the coil spring end (1) at the spring pad (2).

The coil spring end (1) must rest against the spring pad (2).

NOTE: Releasing and tightening the nut on the support bearing or spring strut support bearing with an impact screwdriver is prohibited.

Replace nut.
Parts: Nut
Tighten the nut of the spring strut support bearing (1) with the special tool 0 496 514 (33 0 040) .

M12 Replace nut.	tightening torque 34 Nm
