Remove the positive battery cable from the remote positive terminal to the alternator

- Perform all work only on components that have cooled down.

Driving without the strut brace/front-end strut or tension strut is not permitted.

Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .
- Refer to REMOVING THE ACOUSTIC COVER .
- Refer to REMOVING THE COVER OF THE RIGHT DME CONTROL UNIT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE CONTROL UNIT BRACKET FOR CYLINDERS 1 TO 4 .
- Refer to REMOVING RIGHT INTAKE FILTER HOUSING WITH RIGHT FRONT-END STRUT .
- Refer to PARTIALLY RELEASING THE RIGHT CHARGE AIR LINE .
- Refer to REMOVING THE CLEAN AIR PIPE OF CYLINDER BANK 1 .
- Refer to RELEASING LEFT CHARGE AIR LINE PARTIALLY .
- Release the cover (1) at the detents (2).
- Remove the cover (1) in an upwards direction.
- Loosen nut (1).
- Feed out the positive battery cable (2) from the stud bolt on the remote positive terminal.
- Disengage the positive battery cable on the holders (1).
- Unclip the cable clip (1).
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections of the camshaft sensors (1).
- Loosen nut (3).
- Guide out the ground cable (2)
- Loosen screw (4).
- Remove cover (1).
- Loosen nut (2).
- Disconnect positive battery cable from alternator.
- Unlock plug connection (3) and disconnect.
- Feed out positive battery cable and remove.
