Remove vehicle battery

WARNING: Working on 12 V vehicle electrical system.
Risk of short circuits! Risk of fire!

Make sure that no charger is connected to the jump start support point in the engine compartment.
Detach battery earth lead from battery.
With auxiliary batteries: Detach all battery earth leads from additional batteries.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Zero voltage (high-voltage system switched-off) is only displayed with in PAD mode.

Preliminary works

Detach battery earth lead from battery.
With auxiliary batteries: Detach all battery earth leads from additional batteries.

Slacken nut (1).
Pull off the negative battery terminal (2) from the negative battery terminal.
Put the battery earth lead to one side and secure it.

Unclip luggage compartment aerial with holder (1) upward from luggage compartment floor (2).
Lay luggage compartment aerial with holder (1) to the side.

Remove the cover for the positive battery terminal (1).
Loosen the nut below.

NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.
- Pull off battery terminal from battery pole. Do not pry off using a tool.
Disconnect the positive battery terminal from the vehicle battery.

Unprotected battery terminals.
Risk of short circuits! Risk of fire!
- Cover the vehicle battery.
Loosen the screw (2) and remove the battery holder.
Pull off the vent hose (3).
Remove vehicle battery (4).
