Damage to wires when disconnecting connectors and plug connections.
Sheared wires can cause a short circuit.
- Do not pull on wires when disconnecting connectors and plug connections.
NOTE:
The cable of the Lambda oxygen sensor is black. The installation location of the Lambda oxygen sensor is in front of the catalytic converter.
- Detach the cable (1) from the clamp (2).
- Unlock and disconnect connector (1).
- Unlock the connector (1) with the screwdriver (2) and detach it off from the carrier plate.
- Release the Lambda oxygen sensor (1) with the special tools 0 493 751 (11 9 150) and 0 491 075 (11 7 030).
- Remove the Lambda oxygen sensor (1).
Installing Lambda oxygen sensor
NOTE: Grease the threads of new oxygen sensors thinly and evenly.NOTE: For oxygen sensors that are reused, the following should be observed:NOTE: Thinly and evenly grease the oxygen sensor on the thread only. Do not clean the part of the oxygen sensor that does not protrude into the exhaust line (sensor ceramics) and do not grease.NOTE: For additional information see: OVERVIEW OF CONSUMABLES (BMW PARTS CATALOGUE) .NOTE: For additional information see: OVERVIEW OF CONSUMABLES (BMW PARTS CATALOGUE) .- (1) = Thread
- (2) = Sensor ceramics
NOTE: The cable of the Lambda oxygen sensor is black. The installation location of the Lambda oxygen sensor is in front of the catalytic converter. - Screw in the Lambda oxygen sensor (1).
- Tighten the Lambda oxygen sensor (1) with the special tools 0 493 751 (11 9 150) and 0 491 075 (11 7 030).
