Coolant, Adding And Cooling System, Bleeding, High-Voltage System Cooling Circuit
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Cooling System Tester: VAG1274B
- Cooling System Tester - Adapter: VAG1274/8
- Protective Eyewear
- Safety Gloves
Procedure
The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm. There is a risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.
Scalding the skin and other parts of the body is possible.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Reduce the pressure by covering the coolant expansion tank cap with a cloth and carefully opening it.
- Coolant may only be added when the collected coolant volume is less than 500 ml when replacing components.
-- Drain and fill the coolant for the high-voltage system cooling circuit only if the coolant loss is greater than 500 ml. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING, HIGH-VOLTAGE COOLING CIRCUIT and Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, FILLING, HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM COOLING CIRCUIT .
-- Cut the tab on the seal -3- and open the coolant expansion tank cap -1- for the high-voltage system cooling circuit.
-- Add coolant.
-- Position the Cooling System Tester: VAG1274B with the Cooling System Tester - Adapter: VAG1274/8 on the coolant expansion tank.
-- Create a pressure of 1 bar (14.5 psi) using the hand pump on the cooling system tester.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- Select and start the Diagnostic operating mode.
-- Select the Test plan tab.
-- Select the Select individual test button and select the following tree structure consecutively:
- Body (display depending on the version)
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (display depending on the version)
- 0001 - OBD-Capable Systems or Diagnostic-Capable System
- 00C5 - Thermal Management Control Module J1024
- 00C5 - Thermal Management Control Module, Functions
- 00C5 - Basic Setting
- 00C5 - Coolant Circuit, Bleeding
-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.
Continuation of the Filling Procedure:
-- Check the coolant level and fill with coolant. Refer to COOLANT LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING, HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM COOLING CIRCUIT .
