Overview - Camshaft Timing Chains

  1. Chain Tensioner
    • is under tension
    • Secure with the Tensioner Locking Tool: T40267  before removing
  2. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
  3. Guide Pin
    • 20 Nm
  4. Bolt
    • Replace after removing
    • Tightening sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
  5. Adapter Sleeve
    • Depending on the version, not present on every bearing bracket
  6. Control Valve
    • 35 Nm
    • Left-hand thread
  7. Control Valve
    • 35 Nm
    • Left-hand thread
  8. Bearing Bracket
  9. Cylinder Head Cover
  10. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
  11. Guide Rail
    • For the camshaft timing chain
  12. Camshaft Timing Chain
  13. Guide Rail
    • For the camshaft timing chain
  14. Guide Pin
    • 20 Nm
  15. Three Stage Chain Sprocket
    • Installation position. Refer to Fig 3.
  16. Tensioning Rail
    • For the camshaft timing chain

Bearing Bracket - Tightening Specifications and Sequence

If an adapter sleeve is installed, this will be moved with the bolt -1- in the cylinder head.

-- Tighten the bolts in the steps in the sequence shown:

Step Bolts Tightening Specification 
1. -1- 3 Nm (adapter sleeve, installing)
2. -1 to 6- 9 Nm
