Brake Rotor Thickness
-- Clean the brake rotor before determining the wear.
- The brake rotor vent holes must be free of brake dust and dirt. It may be necessary to use a suitable tool to carefully clean the holes. Do not use any force when doing so.
Health risk due to toxic dust from the brake system.
Irreversible deposit of dust particles in the lungs. Breathing may become impaired.
- Always wear a mouth and nose mask when cleaning the ceramic brake rotor.
-- Clean the brake rotors thoroughly with compressed air between the cooling channels and the vent holes.
-- To determine brake rotor wear:
- 1. Brake Rotor Thickness, Checking for Wear
- 2. Brake Rotor, Weighing
- 3. Wear Indicators, Checking
| 1. Check the brake rotor thickness. Refer to BRAKE ROTOR THICKNESS, CHECKING FOR WEAR . | |||
| If the brake rotor thickness is within the permissible range → then the brake rotor is OK | |||
| the thickness of the brake rotor is in the critical range: minimum thickness + 0.2 mm | when reaching or not reaching the threshold | ||

| Additional checking of the brake rotor by weighing | Brake Rotor, Replacing | ||

| 2. Checking the brake rotor by weighing. Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, WEIGHING . | |||
| If the brake rotor weight is within the permissible range → then the brake rotor is OK | |||
| Brake rotor weight is in the critical range: minimum weight + 20 g | when reaching or not reaching the threshold | ||

| Further brake rotor evaluation at the wear indicators | Brake Rotor, Replacing | ||
| ↓↓ | End | ||
| 3. Use the wear indicators to check the brake rotor wear. Refer to WEAR INDICATORS, CHECKING . | |||
| If none of the six wear indicators are burned out → then the brake rotor is OK. | |||
| One of the six wear indicators is completely burned out | |||

Risk of accident due to insufficient braking action on worn ceramic brake rotors.
Reusing ceramic brake rotors that have reached the wear limit is not permitted.
- Immediately replace the ceramic brake rotors once they have reached one of the wear limits defined below.
Risk of accident due to uneven braking.
- If a brake rotor is damaged or worn, check the other brake rotors for damage and wear.
