Component Location Overview - Components Outside Of Vehicle Interior

• The following illustration shows the layout of the components on an Audi A4 sedan, the layout on a vehicle with another body design (for example on an Audi A5) can vary.

1. Outside Air Temperature Sensor -G17-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Outside Air Temperature Sensor -G17-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
2. Reservoir/Dryer with Dryer Cartridge
   • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - CONDENSER .
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to DESICCANT BAG/DRYER CARTRIDGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
3. Condenser
   • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - REFRIGERANT LINES .
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to CONDENSER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
4. Plenum Chamber Water Drain
   • Checking and Cleaning. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER WATER DRAIN, CHECKING .
   • a right or left drain in the plenum chamber respectively
   • Both water drains are currently without valves, the water flows in the area of the rear, right, and the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER WATER DRAIN, CHECKING .
5. Humidity Sensor in Fresh Air Intake Duct -G657- with or without Air Quality Sensor -G238-
   • On a vehicle with a "Low" A/C system (or no A/C system) the Air Quality Sensor -G238- is not installed
   • On a vehicle with a "High" A/C system the Air Quality Sensor -G238- and the Humidity Sensor in Fresh Air Intake Duct -G657- are combined in a single component.

6. Fresh Air Intake
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to FRESH AIR INTAKE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Make sure the intake grille is seated correctly. The intake grille prevents foreign objects such as leaves from getting into the heater and A/C unit air intake shroud.
   • Depending on the version, for some countries with high dust levels (for example China), a filter is installed instead of intake air grille, which prevents dust and sand from entering the fresh air blower. Refer to FRESH AIR INTAKE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING  and Parts Information.
7. Fresh Air Intake Cover
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to FRESH AIR INTAKE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Check the cover is seated correctly and is not damaged. The cover prevents water from entering the air intake shroud on the heater and A/C unit fresh air intake.
8. Expansion Valve
   • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - COMPONENTS UNDER FENDER AND IN PLENUM CHAMBER .
   • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
9. Right Vehicle Interior Forced Air Extraction
   • Checking. Refer to VEHICLE INTERIOR FORCED AIR EXTRACTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to VEHICLE INTERIOR FORCED AIR EXTRACTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
10. Left Vehicle Interior Forced Air Extraction
    • Checking. Refer to VEHICLE INTERIOR FORCED AIR EXTRACTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to VEHICLE INTERIOR FORCED AIR EXTRACTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
11. Low Pressure Side Service Connection
    • For measuring and discharging
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - COMPONENTS UNDER FENDER AND IN PLENUM CHAMBER .
12. High Pressure Side Service Connection
    • For measuring, discharging and charging
    • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - COMPONENTS UNDER FENDER AND IN PLENUM CHAMBER .

13. High Pressure Sensor -G65-
    • Refer to High Pressure Sensor -G65-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING 
    • To check the signal use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the"Guided Fault Finding"  function.
14. A/C Compressor
    • Refer to the Parts Information for the allocation.
    • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - A/C COMPRESSOR POWER UNIT .
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Can be with or without the A/C Clutch -N25- depending on the engine and the A/C compressor
15. A/C Compressor Regulator Valve -N280-
