Overview - Heater And A/C Unit Attachments, Air Distribution Housing, Heat EXCHANGER, Etc.

1. Insulation
   • Between the air duct in the air distribution housing and the one in the resonator chamber in the air intake manifold.
2. Evaporator Housing
   • With the evaporator installed by the manufacturer
   • Depending on the version, further removal may not be necessary. Refer to OVERVIEW - EVAPORATOR HOUSING .
   • Evaporator, Removing and Installing. Refer to EVAPORATOR IN HEATER AND A/C UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
3. Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
4. Plug
   • Plugs for example 8D0 819 598. Refer to the Parts Information.
   • Only present on a heater and A/C unit, on which cleaning of the evaporator has taken place. Refer to EVAPORATOR IN HEATER AND A/C UNIT, CLEANING, WITH Suction Feed Spray Gun .
5. Cap
   • For the connection to the glove compartment cooling
   • Not present on the glove compartment cooling
6. Catch
   • Open carefully
7. Heater Core for the Heater
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Check the glued-on foam seals for damage and proper bonding. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
8. Screw
   • 1 Nm
9. Heat Exchanger Cover
   • For vehicles without Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-. Refer to the Parts Information.
   • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
10. Heat Exchanger Cover
    • For vehicles with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING  and Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
11. Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Installed depending on the equipment and engine
12. Zone Partition Grille
    • Only for vehicles with a "High" A/C system without an Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING  and Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
13. Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-
    • Only for vehicles with a "High" A/C system
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Check the Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the"Guided Fault Finding"  function.
    • On vehicles with a "Low" A/C system (or with a heater without an A/C system) the mount on the heater and A/C unit is not present or is closed with a plug.
14. Heater and A/C Unit Air Distribution Housing with Evaporator
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.

15. Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
16. Screw-Type Clamp
    • Replacing. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Removing and installing on the heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
17. Screw
    • 2 Nm
    • Removing and installing on the heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
18. O-Ring Seal
    • Replacing. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Coat lightly with coolant before installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
19. Coolant Pipe Spacer
    • Is clipped in on both coolant pipes
20. Coolant Pipe to Heater Core
    • Coolant return
    • Removing and installing on the heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Can only be replaced when the heater and A/C unit is removed.
21. Coolant Pipe to Heater Core
    • Coolant supply
    • Removing and installing on the heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Can only be replaced when the heater and A/C unit is removed.
