A/C Compressor, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 6-Cylinder Engine (Except 6-Cylinder 2.9L TFSI Engine): Installing
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
-- If the A/C compressor is replaced (for example due to inner damage), pay attention to the notes for replacing the A/C compressor. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit Components, Replacing or COMPONENTS, REPLACING .
- There is an unspecified amount of refrigerant oil in the removed A/C compressor. Therefore observe the information on replacing the A/C compressor. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit Components, Replacing or COMPONENTS, REPLACING .
-- Before tightening the A/C compressor, check seating of both alignment bushings -A- in bracket or A/C compressor -B-.
- The alignment sleeves -A- have different versions (different lengths), make sure to use the correct version. Refer to Parts Information.
- Make sure the alignment sleeves -A- are seated correctly and the contact surfaces are clean. Incorrectly installed alignment sleeves and dirty or damaged contact surfaces -C- on the bracket or A/C compressor can lead to alignment irregularities between the A/C compressor and engine. Alignment irregularities over operating time lead to damage to the ribbed belt or A/C compressor.
Before installing the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C System, General Information or COMPONENTS, REPLACING .
-- Turn the A/C compressor by hand 10 rotations before installing the ribbed belt on the pulley (to prevent damage to the compressor when it is first switched on).
-- If a new A/C compressor has been installed or fresh refrigerant oil has been filled into the A/C compressor before installing ribbed belt (for example, after cleaning refrigerant circuit), the A/C compressor must be turned by hand approximately 10 turns. This ensures that the A/C compressor will not be damaged when engine is first started.
-- Evacuate and charge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit or Working with A/C Service Station (1 Of 2) / Working with A/C Service Station (2 Of 2) .
-- Start the A/C system after charging the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, STARTING AFTER CHARGING REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .
