Overview - VALVETRAIN

1. Exhaust Valve
   • Do not rework, only lapping is permitted
   • Valve Dimensions. Refer to VALVE DIMENSIONS .
   • Valve Guides, Checking. Refer to VALVE GUIDES, CHECKING .
2. Cylinder Head
   • Only replace the cylinder head and cylinder head cover together
3. Not Installed
4. Valve Stem Seal
   • There are different versions. Refer to Fig 5.
   • Replacing. Refer to VALVE STEM SEALS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
5. Valve Spring
6. Hydraulic Lifter
   • Do not interchange
   • Coat the contact surface with engine oil
7. Upper Valve Spring Retainer
8. Valve Retainers
9. Clip
   • For hydraulic lifter
10. Roller Rocker Lever
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Mark the installed position for reinstallation.
    • Check the roller bearing for ease of movement
    • Coat the contact surfaces with engine oil
11. Exhaust Camshaft
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Check the radial clearance using Plastigage^® (roller rocker lever removed)
    • Axial play: new 0.1 ^+0.102_-0.05 mm
    • Radial clearance: 0.024 to 0.066 mm
    • Maximum run out: 0.04 mm
    • After removing and installing or replacing an adaptation must be performed. Refer to PERFORM ADAPTATIONS AFTER COMPONENT REPLACEMENT .
12. Cylinder Head Cover
    • With integrated camshaft bearings
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Only clean the sealing surface, reworking is not permitted.
    • Remove old sealant residue.
    • Only replace the cylinder head and cylinder head cover together
13. Bolt
    • Replace after removing
    • Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
14. Ball Pin
    • In the existing threads: 9 Nm
    • In the new tapping threads: 11 Nm
    • For the engine cover
    • Thread cutting
15. Bracket
    • For the wiring harness
16. Bolt
    • In the existing threads: 9 Nm
    • In the new tapping threads: 11 Nm
    • Thread cutting
17. Plugs
18. O-Ring
    • Replace after removing
19. O-Ring
    • No replacement part: included in the cam adjustment actuator delivery package
    • Coat with engine oil
20. Cam Adjustment Actuator
    • Cam Adjustment Actuator 1 -F366-

    • Bring into the installation position. Refer to Installing - The cam adjustment actuator pin must be brought into the installation position. .

24. Intake Camshaft
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Check the radial clearance using Plastigage^® (roller rocker lever removed)
    • Axial play: new 0.1 ^+0.102_-0.05 mm
    • Radial clearance: 0.024 to 0.066 mm
    • Run-out: maximum 0.04 mm
    • After removing and installing or replacing an adaptation must be performed. Refer to PERFORM ADAPTATIONS AFTER COMPONENT REPLACEMENT .
25. Alignment Pin
    • Quantity: 2
26. Intake Valve
    • Do not rework, only lapping is permitted
    • Valve Dimensions. Refer to VALVE DIMENSIONS .
    • Valve Guides, Checking. Refer to VALVE GUIDES, CHECKING .

Cylinder Head Cover - Tightening Specifications and Sequence 

• Replace bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.
• Pay attention that the cylinder head cover is not tilted.

-- Tighten the bolts -1 to 6- in steps in the sequence shown:

Step	Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1.	Install all the way in multiple steps by hand
2.	8 Nm
3.	90° additional turn

Valve Spring, Installation Position and Allocation

• The tight spring coils -arrow- face toward cylinder head.
• Length of the valve spring, intake side, approximately 45.5 mm.
• Length of the valve spring, exhaust side, approximately 51.0 mm.

Roller Rocker Lever, Allocation

• Roller rocker lever, intake side, dimension -a- = 5.4 mm
• Roller rocker lever, exhaust side, dimension -b- = 8.0 mm
