ATF, Draining And Filling
The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is equipped with an ATF and MTF chamber.
The ATF is located in the blue section of the transmission and is drained through the ATF drain plug -1- and filled through the ATF filler plug -2-.
The MTF is located in the green section of the transmission fluid and is drained by removing the MTF pump -4- and is filled through the MTF check plug -3-.
The bolt on the gear set -arrow- is not a drain plug.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit: SMN372500
- Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit: VAS6617 with : VAS6617/1 and : VAS6617/2
- Adapter: VAS6617/12
- Protective Eyewear
- Acid-Resistant Safety Gloves
Draining
Replace the plugs after removal.
- The engine is off.
- Move vehicle onto a four-pillar workshop hoist or over a work pit so that it is absolutely horizontal.
- The selector level is in "P".
- The parking brake button is pressed to activate the electro-mechanical parking brake.
-- Remove the rear noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Equipped on some models: remove the bolts -arrows- and nut -2-.
-- Remove the end panel -1- for the crossbrace.
-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit: SMN372500 underneath.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester with the vehicle and start the Diagnostic mode.
- Select vehicle test

- 02-ATF level, checking → 1 ATF draining
The test program "ATF draining" includes "deactivating the ATF pump and draining the hydraulic pressure reservoir". Refer to ATF PUMP, DEACTIVATING AND DRAINING THE HYDRAULIC PUMP RESERVOIR .
-- Follow the instructions in the display.
Danger of eye injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Open the plug -A- on the drain opening and let the ATF drain.
Risk of damaging the transmission.
- Do not start the engine when there is no ATF in the transmission.
Follow the disposal requirements.
-- Tighten the ATF drain plug.
-- Clean the subframe crossbrace and remove any remaining ATF.
Filling
Risk of damaging the transmission.
- Only use the listed replacement ATF for the dual-clutch transmission 0CJ, 0CK, 0CL, 0DN, 0DP.
- Using other fluids can cause malfunctions or transmission failure.
- Note the allocation. Refer to the Parts Information.
- The Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit: VAS6617 must be clean and the ATF must not be mixed with another fluids! Rinse the hand pump with ATF if necessary.
Danger of eye injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Open the plug -B- on the inspection and fill hole.
-- Guide the Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit: VAS6617 with the : VAS6617/1 and Adapter: VAS6617/12 into the hole.
Risk of damaging the transmission by mixing ATF and transmission fluid (MTF) through the same bleeder.
- The ATF filling quantity of 3.5 liters must not be exceeded.
-- Fill the transmission with 3.5 liters of ATF using the hand pump.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester with the vehicle and start the Diagnostic mode.
- Select vehicle test

- 02-ATF level, checking → 2 ATF filling
-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions in the display of the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Close the plug -B- on the inspection and fill hole all the way.
