Valve Stem Seals, Removing And Installing, Cylinder Head Removed: Installing

• In order not to damage the valve stem seal -4- during installation, mount the Mounting Sleeve -3- on the valve stem -2-.

-- Lightly oil the valve stem seal sealing lip.

• Depending on the version of the valve stem seal, use the : 3365  or : T40376/1 

-- Insert the valve stem seal into the seal installer -5- and carefully press it all the way onto the valve guide -1- over the Mounting Sleeve.

-- Remove the Mounting Sleeve.

If the valve retainers were removed from the assembly cartridge, they must be inserted into the : VAS5161/18  first.

• The large diameter of the valve retainers point upward.

-- Press the assembly cartridge from above onto valve retainer inserting tool and valve retainers.

-- Insert the valve spring and the valve spring retainer. Refer to Figure.

-- Attach the : VAS5161/19C  onto the cylinder head again.

-- Insert the assembly cartridge into the guide plate.

-- Press the pressure fork down and pull the knurled bolt up while turning left and right. This inserts the valve retainers.

-- Release the pressure fork with the knurled bolt still raised.

-- Repeat the procedure on each valve.

Assembling 

-- Install the intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
