Fuel Tank, Installing, All Vehicles
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine and Gearbox Jack :VAS6931
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
- The fuel lines as well as the wiring harness to the fuel delivery unit must be clipped in the fuel tank.
-- Position the fuel tank with mounting straps on the underbody using the :VAS6931 .
-- When positioning the fuel tank, make sure that the fuel filler neck is guided into the opening of the body correctly.
FWD Vehicles
-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 5- on the mounting strap and the fuel tank.
AWD Vehicles
-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 7- on the mounting strap and the fuel tank.
-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to the appropriate service information. .
All A4:
-- Engage the fuel filler neck on the mount.
-- TDI vehicles: Install the reducing agent tank filler neck -3-. Refer to the appropriate service information. .
-- Tighten the bolts -1 and 2-.
All A5:
-- TDI vehicles: install the reducing agent tank filler neck -1-. Refer to the appropriate service information. .
-- Tighten the bolts -A and B arrows-.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
Danger due to electrostatic charge.
- After installing, check the electrical connection on fuel filler neck threaded ring to an empty spot on the body using an Ohm meter.
- Specified value: approximately 0 Ω.
-- Install the fuel filler door unit. Refer to FUEL FILLER DOOR UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- TFSI vehicles: Connect the battery. At the same time, follow all steps after connecting the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- After installing a new or completely empty fuel tank, at least 5 liter (5.28 quarts) of fuel must be added before starting the engine.
Do not allow the fuel pump to run when the fuel tank is empty.
-- Country/Rest of World equipment versions: bleed the fuel line to the parking heater metering pump. Refer to FUEL LINE TO METERING PUMP, BLEEDING .
