Battery, 48 V -A6-, VISUALLY INSPECTING AND CLASSIFYING: Procedure
CAUTION:
There is danger of a health risk due to poisonous dust and fluids.
- Never work on a lithium-ion battery with a short circuit.
CAUTION:
There is a risk of burns due to a hot lithium-ion battery.
It is possible to burn hands.
- Do not touch a hot battery.
- Wear safety gloves.
The Battery, 48 V -A6- must be checked for:
- Cracks in the housing for the Battery, 48 V -A6-.
- Deformities in the housing for the Battery, 48 V -A6-.
- Changes in color due to the effects of temperature and housing discoloration
- Electrolyte leakage.
- Contact damage.
- If the information and warning label is present and readable.
- Corrosion damage.
-- After the visual inspection, the Battery, 48 V -A6- must be classified.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- With the Battery, 48 V -A6- removed, use the :VAS5581 with the :VAS5581/1A and the :VAS5581/1A-2 .
- Connect the black terminal from the :VAS5581/1A and :VAS5581/1A-2 on the negative terminal of the Battery, 48 V -A6-.
- The CAN bus terminating resistor on the :VAS5581 is preset to 120 Ohm and must not be changed.
-- Select the Diagnostic mode and start the diagnosis.
-- Select the Test plan tab.
-- Select the Select individual test button and select the following tree structure consecutively:
- Diagnostic-capable systems
- 0021 - 48V battery management -A6-
- 0021 - 48V battery management, functions
- 0021 - Classification, Battery, 48 V -A6-
-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.
